To put that in perspective, Alphabet is spending more on data centers and networking gear than the entire market cap of some of Intel’s closest competitors.

Heavy Metal vs. Cloud Castles

When Google spends money, it’s buying servers to run high-margin software. It’s an asset-light model where the infrastructure feeds directly into search ads and cloud contracts. Chinese memory giant CXMT just pulled off a 450% surge on its Shanghai debut after raising nearly $10 billion. This isn't just a local story; it’s a global supply chain threat. CXMT is flooding the market with conventional DRAM (the standard memory in your laptop), which could force Micron to retreat even further into high-end, specialized AI memory like HBM.

The High-Stakes Foundry Pivot

The real 'make or break' for Intel isn't just selling more chips; it’s the Foundry business. For the uninitiated, a 'Foundry' is a factory that builds chips for other people. Intel is trying to convince the world (and companies like Tesla) to let Intel build their proprietary silicon. This is a massive shift in bargaining power. Historically, companies like Google had to buy what Intel sold. Now, Google builds its own custom AI chips (TPUs), effectively 'firing' the middleman.

Intel's Revenue per Share has actually seen a slight erosion, dropping from $3.37 in Q3 2023 to $3.02 in Q4 2025. This suggests that while the AI segment is a rocket ship, the rest of the business is still a bit of a tugboat. To win, Intel must achieve high factory 'utilization rates'—basically keeping the machines running 24/7. If those $20 billion factories sit idle for even a few hours, the fixed costs will eat the company alive.

Intel is currently the world’s most expensive construction project. The 59% jump in AI revenue is the fuel, but the $20 billion capex is the engine.
